Mother Mary's Birthday - September 8, 2014



The Catholic Church celebrates today the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary on its traditional fixed date of September 8, nine months after the December 8 celebration of her Immaculate Conception as the child of Saints Joachim and Anne.
According to the bible, Mary also known as Saint Mary or the Virgin Mary, was a Jewish woman of Nazareth in Galilee who is identified in the New Testament as the mother of Jesus through divine intervention. Christians hold her son Jesus to be Christ and God the Son Incarnate. Mary also has a revered position in Islam, where a whole chapter of the Qur’an is devoted to her, also describing the birth of Jesus. Mary holds the virtues of humility, purity, charity, patience, unfathomable faith and a good example of a mother for she sacrifice everything for the sake of her son.

Karansa Festival - September 16-19, 2014

Karansa is a dance festival that shows the joy and happiness through performing the four basic dance steps, the kikay, karag, kurug and kurahay. In a little way, its a dance to be merry and to celebrates – a word in Cebuano, because the people of Brgy. Suba in Danao City, known for pottery will gather and celebrates for a successful day of work through performing a dance. This the proud of Danawanons which remains its cultures and heritage of Danao City.





Kabuhian Festival - 3rd Sunday of September (Ronda)

The festival is in celebration of the town’s annual fiesta. Featured activities include a trade fair, livelihood forum and a street dancing competition participated in by the different barangays with the dance movement depicting the various livelihood program of the town.




Pitlagong Festival - September 26, 2014 (Argao)



Pitlagong Festival is celebrated as a form of prayer and offering to Saint Michael the Archangel, the town’s patron saint. It is also considered as a way of uniting the people to participate in the community development efforts. “Pitlagong” is an instrument made of bamboo and used to clean the bamboo container (sugong) for collecting coconut wine (tuba) or vinegar (suka). “Tuba” is part of the daily lives of Argawanons.
